Real Food. Real Farmers. Real Community.

Verdant Market — Asheville's member-owned organic market, connecting Blue Ridge farmers with the families who love their food.

More Than a Grocery Store

Verdant Market was born from a simple conviction: the best food comes from people who care about the land, the seasons, and the communities they feed. Founded in 2009 as a twelve-family buying cooperative, we've grown into West Asheville's largest organic market while keeping every one of our founding values intact.

Today, over 3,000 families shop with us each week. We carry produce from 60+ Blue Ridge farms, a full-service zero-waste deli, an in-house bakery, and an expanding selection of local artisan goods — all under one roof. As a member-owned cooperative, every dollar you spend stays in our mountain community.

Our Core Values

Three principles guide every decision we make — from the farms we partner with to the packaging we use.

Farm Transparency

We visit every farm personally before stocking a single item. Our buyers maintain year-round relationships so you always know exactly where your food comes from.

Zero Waste Commitment

Bulk bins, compostable packaging, and a full-circle composting program that returns food scraps to partner farms. We've diverted 45+ tons of waste since 2019.

Member Ownership

Every shopper can become a co-owner with a one-time equity share. Members earn monthly dividends, get voting rights on store decisions, and save 10% on every purchase.
