Locally sourced organic produce, artisan goods, and sustainable essentials from over 60 Blue Ridge farmers and makers
Verdant Market started as a small cooperative buying group of twelve families committed to supporting local farmers in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Today, we're a full-service organic market and community gathering place in West Asheville, serving over 3,000 families each week with produce, meats, dairy, baked goods, and pantry staples sourced from within a 100-mile radius.
We remain member-owned and mission-driven. Every purchase supports local farms, reduces food miles, and keeps money circulating in our mountain community. Our zero-waste deli prepares fresh meals daily using surplus produce, and our education programs teach kids and adults alike about seasonal eating, food preservation, and sustainable agriculture.
Over 80% of our products come from farms and producers within 100 miles of Asheville. We visit every farm personally and build long-term relationships that support sustainable growing practices.
We carry exclusively USDA Certified Organic produce and prioritize organic, non-GMO options across all departments. Our buyers verify certifications and conduct annual farm audits.
Bulk bins, compostable packaging, and a full-circle composting program that returns food waste to partner farms. We've diverted over 45 tons of waste from landfills since launching our zero-waste initiative in 2019.
Verdant is a member-owned cooperative -- every shopper can become an owner with a one-time equity share. Members receive monthly dividends, voting rights, and 10% off all purchases.

Verdant isn't just a grocery store -- it's the heart of our neighborhood. I know the farmers who grow my food, the baker who makes my bread, and the people behind the counter by name. You can taste the difference when food is grown with care.
As a small-scale organic farmer, Verdant has been a lifeline for our family operation. They pay fair prices, pick up from our farm weekly, and feature us at community events. It's the kind of partnership that keeps small farms alive.
My kids love the Saturday morning kids club at Verdant. They learn about where food comes from, plant seeds in the garden, and come home excited about eating vegetables. That's priceless.
Open daily from 8am to 8pm. First-time shoppers receive a free reusable tote and 15% off their first purchase.
